The Swiss foundation ‘Good Hope’ (founded in 2024) supports a Christian school in Kabwe, Zambia, which was established five years ago by a Zambian couple who are both teachers. The Kabwe Christian School now has more than 350 pupils aged between 3 and 13. Classes are held in rented former British colonial houses, in rooms that are far too cramped, with poor hygiene conditions and a lack of teaching materials.
Good Hope's goal is to provide financial support to the school so that it can move into suitable school premises. To this end, the foundation has purchased a plot of land on which a new school is being built for the pupils. In order to successfully continue the construction of the new school, finance the teachers, teaching materials, daily meals for the pupils and much more, the foundation needs additional funds.
The president of the foundation, Daniel Sarbach, lives with his wife in Hergiswil. He provides technical and organisational support for the construction of the new school through regular video calls and personal visits to the site. As the founder of an international school in the canton of Zurich, he has the necessary knowledge of education and business management. He discusses technical construction issues with Swiss experts who, like him, are volunteering their time to help the school in Zambia.
